 Here is the final pics of my second IW tactical squad. So the infantry section is on 2/3 and the army is on a half done now.

And I would take a break and return to some DA test minis.

I happy to intriduce to you a Iron Warriore veteran sergeant Covisus. The second squad is completed now, so I'll show them all very soon becase I need to do little repainting and take new photos.

 Iron Warriors return to the NMMonday. The secornd squad's sergeant is almorst done, I just need to coplete his arm with the power axe. And traditionally I make IW ax blades according to the simplest NMM recipe: black + white.

In this part, I would like to explain a little more how and why this method of drawing chevrons is used.

Yellow-black chevrons, or stripes, are a fairly simple and interesting way to make a focal point on the miniature or diversify the color scheme. It does not require any special technique or perfect blending to do this element well . On the contrary, some roughness will only improve the result.

For colors, any Golden NMM recipe is suitable for us, in which only the application technique will be changed. We will consciously minimize the contrast.

Scalecolor Artist NMM recipe

While testing new colors range firstly I always search for basic NMM recipes. So there is a basic steel NMM recipe for the Scalecolor Artist range:

Base mix - Art Black + Dark Brown Ochre.

Next add Primary Blue to the base mix 'till it be a very little bit more blue than grey.

Highlight that with adding Art White 'till pure white.

Legionnary Geronis - vexilary of the2nd tactical squad 3rd line company XCV Grand Batallion. 15th painted Iron Warrior for my "IW infantry section" project. 11 is still left.
Same colors as in the recent time, painted by Pacific88 Art-Color paints.

Legionnire Gaius from 3rd line company XCV Grand Battalion. He wears customized MK5 armor suit and uses 'roguetrader' pattern bolter :-) Btw his backpack will be replaced with MK6 commlink backpack once I'll get it.

Legionnaire Teur is an example of the Iron Warriors. Just a faceless killing machine, without any  remarkable features. But he is survive long enough to get an appointment to the third company. Born on a same planet as veteran sergeant Teron so he would be the first candidate to lead squad if Teron become the centurion.

One more Iron Warriors legionnaire attached to the XCV Grand Battalion. Second in this year and third to the current Tactical Squad. I think there is a visible step forward in quality thanks to the experiments with maodern style of the NMM

Traitor Librarian project: the final

The Traitor-Librarian project is finally over and went yesterday to a new home. This project took considerably more time than I had originally planned and was one of those rare works that I would gladly leave in my collection. While working on this miniature, I came up with several interesting ideas that I will definitely try to realize when I make such an uncle for myself.

Traitor Librarian part 5: Burn Fire Burn!

The last part of the Traitor-Librarian project log will be devoted to the fire demon and glow effects.
The first thing that I would like to note is that the fire and all sorts of similar effects are better drawn on a light undercoat. Because I primed miniature with black, I need to do a layer of the light undercoat. I used Khaki (VGC), but in principle, any extra opaque light colors would work.

Since I have repeatedly written about working with reds in previous projects, I'll just describe the used colors and techniques. On this model I used two variants of red, warm on a cloak and a tabard and a cold red-magenta on a book and a staff.

This part of the project log will cover painting the base. I was going to make it a bit darker than previous versions, so that the glow from the flame, which I will do later, looked more convincing. Since I have not yet decided what color this flame will be, then I will draw reflexes closer to the end of the project.
