Daemonsmith project: part2

As promised last time, I started with painting of the base. Initially, I planned to make  glowing from inside crystals but then I changed the idea in favor of the red gems. So instead of a warm orange color, they was made in cold red tones.

As the base color for the crystals, I used a mixture of Carmine Red (VMC) and black, and when sequentially highlighted them through pure Carmine Red and Dark Vermillion (VMC) to Scarlet (VMC).
For the final highlights, I used a mixture of Scarlett and Cadmium Skin (VGC), which gradually added white. In addition some Dark Vermillion glazings was made during the highlighting process in order to keep a cold red tint.

The stone surface on the base I painted by drybrushing from the base mix of German cam. Black brown and Reflective Green (both VMCs) with the addition of more and more Iraqui Sand (VMC). At the same time, I actively used the washes of different colors: green, purple, turquoise and red.

Daemonsmith project: part1

"Mint Dragon" and "La Bande En Parade" competitions are over now, and finally I have time for some delayed projects. For September I scheduled Chaos Dwarf  Daemonsmith for a comissioneer's army.
As you see for this project I had an Arkanaut Admiral miniature and Brokk Grungsson's head. I'm not planning any grand conversions and I'll try to make the miniature look more evil because of the grim colour scheme and lighting effects. I'll change only the runes and ancestors images so they look more traditional for chaos dwarfs.
The base is made from pine bark and epoxy putty using the technique described here. In addition, I adorned the base with chrystals cut from the plastic sprues to picture a hellish cave. I think to start painting the base first.

(Brokk Grungsson).

"I'll give you something better than life or death"

My entry for 2nd  round of Iron Painter contest.
Theme was "Better off (un)dead". And it was really hard pain for my brain to imagine something about it. So very big THANKS to my friend Ravenswood for help me with idea about voodoo magic and for reminding about importance of "undead" aspect in round theme.
So I had only one week for work from zero to deadline. I think I work hard about 40-45 hours for all works - building tree stump (it was the biggest part of work), sculpting dolls and organs, preparing, converting and painting miniatures and all small details and so on.
How do you think what story are telling us this scene?

I sale this diorama.
So if you interested to buy you can send me mail on serpentarium.painting (///) gmail.com

Hope you like it!

New God`s / Новые Боги (Work in progress)

New God`s /

Last autumn, 2014, Massive Voodoo announced the start of their competition «Bananalisious 2". The First was very interesting, with lots of high-class work. For me MV blog has always been very important, the guys have done a lot for the development and promotion of our modeling segment, and their views and approaches have always been close to me.
So, I tried to do all my best.

Wolf Den. WIP

This is my work in the Serpentarium's project called "Ashan-Tyr". We(RRR)'re planning to create some kind of tutorial of painting the Confrontation mini Ashan-Tyr in approximately the same color scheme but by different ways/painters. I hope it will be really interesting! So stay tuned!
Now I'm on the stage of creating a base for it. I've decided to create a small diorama "Wolf Den". This tree will be a background for two minis - Ashan-Tyr and Varghar. I think that the tree must be dark and dead with a wolf den inside it.
And I want to ask you to comment it before I'll set a plants. What do you think about it? What can I change or add? May be there are some solutions to do it better, may be no :).  All your comments and recommendation will be listened and I'll try to think about it. One head is well but two - are better. And I'll be really appretiate for all your meanings.

Basing is SIMPLE!

I think the base is not very difficult. The main issues that arise is what to do and from what. On the first, I probably will go into transcendental wilderness, so long as quiet. With the second easier.
Little bases that made after talking with We7 THIS THREAD. Do not think they reference, rather a test version. Myself just interesting, could I put together something in 2 cm plastic. Well somehow fit, although sacrificed place for miniatures))
I invite to discussion. If you have questions on the technology ready to make some tutorials! So WELCOME;)
